SESSIONS

Sessions

Below is an outline of what happens in therapy, however this is only a general overview and each persons experience will be slightly different as everyone is individual.

Initial Contact

Covid-19

If you are thinking of booking a session, then please complete the form on the 'Contact Me' page providing your contact details, an indication of when it is usually easier to make contact (although please be aware that my availability may not make it possible to meet these times) along with an indication of the support you require.

I will then be in touch to arrange an initial  telephone discussion, just so we can decide whether to progress.  This initial telephone discussion is free of charge and usually takes around 15 minutes.

If we agree to progress, we then book in a full session which is 50 minutes in duration.

Online Therapy Sessions

If we agree to continue working together, you will usually have a number of planned, regular sessions.  These are held via video-call which provides a face-to-face interaction (which is COVID secure) without being physically in the same room as the therapist.

One of the benefits of video-call therapy is location, as you do not need to be physically located near to my office, you just require an internet connection and somewhere private you can sit comfortably to make your calls from.  Prior to starting therapy I would send you some helpful information about how set things up.

Your first session is usually a mix of completing some admin, as well as talking things through.  We will take things at a pace you are comfortable with.

What is covered in sessions?

What we will talk about will vary depending on you and what you need.  For example it could include:

  • Career Change,
  • Retirement,
  • Bereavement,
  • Changing location,
  • Sexual identity,
  • Life changing injury,
  • Adjusting between relationships,

but this is not an exhaustive list, there could be other things to these you need to talk through or a combination.

Coaching

If you do not feel that it is therapy that you are looking for and you are instead seeking coaching to help you work through a decision or to motivate you in moving forward, then this is also something I can assist you with.

We can work together to understand what drives you and use this to set your future direction.
